Warwick's pet carers fill in when you're not around
WHEN it comes to holidaying or in times of emergency, making sure the family pets are taken care of can cause stress and concern for Warwick residents.
Help is never far away however, as a number of individuals and business across the Rose City step in to lend a hand at these times.
Animal-lover Caitlin Bailey believes in-home visits are the way to go
"It's much less disruptive on the pets,” she said.
"Dogs need routine just as much as humans do.
"I accommodate what the owner wants, I can come out just to feed once a day, or feed twice a day and two walks.”
Scent from Heaven Mobile Dog Grooming owner Nicole Finnigan agrees.
"It's best to keep the pets in their own environment,” she said.
"Some dogs get really stressed when they are removed from their environment.
"I guess the tough part is to finding a reputable and caring person - I mainly do this for my own clients so the familiarity is there already.”
The average rate for in-home pet minding in about $25 a day.
On the flipside, some veterinary clinics over short and long term stays for pets.
Warwick Veterinary Clinic practice manager Tessa Sissman said the benefits of having trained and caring staff looking after your pets were many.
"We make sure to do everything we can to make the animals comfortable during their stay,” she said.
"They're exercised regulary and are fed premuim foods.
Boarding incurs a nightly cost and Warwick Veterinary Clinic also offers a pet taxi service to collect pets if required.
