Warwick's Sam Eaves set to make cut of PGA tournament
GOLF: Warwick's Sam Eaves produced a solid second round to earn himself a place at the weekend in the Queensland PGA Championship in Toowoomba.
Eaves finished with a second round of 67 on the par-70 course, taking him to -4 for the tournament heading into today's third round.
Play was halted just prior to 4pm during the second round, with Eaves sitting in a tie for 36th, with the projected cut at -3.
The Warwick Golf Club pro bounced back from a slow start yesterday after picking up a bogey on the first hole. He regained his composure, scoring birdies on the fourth and sixth holes to take him to -2.
His back-nine was flawless, as he claimed two more birdies on the 11th and 13th to put him right in contention for the major prize.
At the time of the rain delay, Victorian Josh Younger produced another strong performance, backing up his first round of 64 with a carbon copy score, taking him to -12 and giving him top spot on the leaderboard.
If you want to throw your support behind Sam, entry is free for the third round at the City Golf Club in Toowoomba.
