Warwick/Southern Downs team ready for NSW carnival

RUGBY LEAGUE: Ross Thorne will coach the Warwick and Southern Downs under-43kg rugby league team at the zone 5 carnival at Tenterfield on July 3-7.

The Warwick and Southern Downs team has been training for the past two months under Thorne.

The team includes players from Collegians, Eastern Suburbs and Stanthorpe clubs.

Warwick Cowboys five-eighth Brad Morrish is trainer and Ian Carrie manager.

Weigh in is on July 2. Games will be played on the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with an athletics carnival on the Wednesday.

Eight teams will play in the carnival so each team will have seven games prior to the selection of the City and Country teams for the final game on the Friday.

Warwick and Southern Downs had trial game at Goondiwindi on Sunday beating Balonne Barwon 28-8 and beating Macintyre 24-8.

The 2018 carnival will be in Warwick.
