BEST friends have been made, favourite lunches have been found and they've already learned some intriguing facts.

Warwick Preps at St Mary's Primary School have only been at school for a few weeks but they've already settled into new routines like they've been doing it for years.

The Daily News checked in to see how the new students were travelling and to find out what they loved most about the start of their education.

For some, it was Lego and play time. For others, learning letters and numbers were their favourite things to do in the classroom.

Big thanks to St Mary's Primary School and students Allie Giffin, Macey Sutton, Xavier Fox, Finlay Brown, Asher Ralph, Darcy Bednarz, Grace Reinberger, Ava McGregor and Bonnie Cussen for taking part in the video.

To meet more Warwick Preps and Year 1 students, be sure to pick up a copy of the Daily News on Thursday for the free My First Year publication.

It's got all the happy snaps of new students that have started school around the region.

From Glennie Heights State School to Inglewood State School, we've gone around the grounds to capture their excited faces.

My First Year is a beautiful glossy magazine, so it's the perfect keepsake to look back on to reminisce in years to come.

If you have a child or grandchild who started school this year, or know someone who has, make sure you get your copy of this special keepsake in Thursday.
