Youths guilty in water bomb spree
THEY looked like a couple of punks who danced their way out of a music film clip but the Warwick Magistrates Court was no place for a teen dance-off with attitude yesterday.
As soon as Blake Shane Halcrow, 19, and Biron Jeffrey Medland, 17, pleaded guilty to endangering the safe use of a motor vehicle Magistrate Anne Thacker was not amused.
“Take your hands out of your pockets like you know what’s going on,” Magistrate Thacker said.
Police prosecutor Ken Wiggan told the court Warwick Police received complaints from the public concerned about objects being thrown at cars driving through Warwick.
The objects of choice? Water balloons bombarding car windscreens.
Patrolling police noticed a water balloon fly over a fence and soon located warehouse worker Medland and unemployed Halcrow about noon September 12.
Magistrate Anne Thacker slammed the pair for the “dangerous behaviour”.
“Grow up, you could have caused an accident,” she said.
The unmoved men were fined $200 each and no conviction was recorded.
