Water Rats are home for rare Friday night footy at Risdon

RUGBY UNION: Warwick will play a rare game of Friday night footy at Risdon Oval at 7.15pm.

The Warwick Water Rats under-15 girls will play Bears in sevens rugby at 6 o'clock Friday night.

Anthony Savovski is the coach of the U15 side which has played games for the past three weekends.

The Warwick B-grade men's side will play third-placed Rangers.

"A win this weekend should put us in the top five,” men's coach Vlad Savovski said.

"We had 17 which is a good number at training on Tuesday and Thursday nights.”

Warwick has two of the young guns out with work commitments but is set to have its biggest squad of the season.

"We should have 22 players at the game and all will get some time on the field,” he said.

Joseph Levick will feed the scrums for Warwick in his first season for the club.

"Joseph came to the area as a gap student at Scots PGC and has stayed on to work in the Warwick area,” Vlad said.

"He is a good communicator and is a solid half who can pass as good to the left as to the right.”

Max Hall will play flyhalf in his second season at the Water Rats.

Hall will do a lot of the general kicking for the team while Josh Sharman will be goalkicker.

The unbeaten Dalby leads B grade in the Darling Downs competition.

The Warwick women's sevens team has the weekend off and will next play on June 10.

Ladies day at Risdon Oval will be on June 3 in conjunction with the men's game against Goondiwindi and golden oldies footy.

The women are training hard under coach Lauren Quinlan despite a break of a month between games.

A Queensland Reds autographed football and two Reds member's tickets to the Reds home game against Western Force will be raffled at Friday night footy.

Admission to the rugby on Friday night is free.
