Water Rats have a point to prove

THE Water Rats will have a chance to claim the top spot this weekend when they take on Goondiwindi in a round four rematch.

Goondiwindi is currently first on the ladder while Warwick is one point behind.

Warwick Water Rats coach and captain Dave Young said it was an important game.

"Whoever wins this game stays on top," he said.

Young said the finals were only a few matches away.

"Being in first will make the run to the finals much easier," he said

Goondiwindi held the Water Rats scoreless when they met earlier in the season, defeating them 29-0.

Young said they did not want it to happen again.

"We are hoping to turn that around and score a fair few points on them," he said.

Young said the team was on a winning streak.

"We haven't lost a game since we last played Goondiwindi," he said.

"We have won six in a row and are really hoping to make it seven."

Young said his teammates were up for the challenge.

"Every player is pumped," he said. "We're all fit and ready as well".

"It's a bit of a grudge match and everyone is looking forward to it."

The game will kick off at 3pm tomorrow at Risdon Oval.

Entry is free and there are bar and canteen facilities.
