Water Rats prepare for ladies’ day in rugby union

RUGBY UNION: The Warwick Water Rats are treating ladies’ day as one of the major events of the Darling Downs Rugby Union season.

On Risdon Oval, the Warwick B-grade side will play traditional rival Goondiwindi at 3pm but that won’t be the only game during the May 28 event.

Junior training will be at 9-11am with a Rats Old Boys game at 11.30am.

At 1pm, Scots PGC will play a game against Downlands after winning the last two rugby clashes between the two schools.

Ladies day will start at 12.30pm when the first of the champagne will be served in a marquee to be erected especially for the day.

The Killarney QCWA and some friends of the club will do the catering.

Admission to the marquee is $10 for champagne and food.

The club is happy to welcome more juniors in under 5-12 age groups at 8am each Saturday at Risdon Oval or for training at 4pm each Thursday at The Scots PGC College.

Warwick has a bye in B grade this Saturday but junior training will be held as usual.

Tickets for ladies’ day are available from Bev Hall on 0408451533 or at junior training on Saturday.
