Water Rats still in finals race but need to beat Gundy
RUGBY UNION: A late converted try gave Warwick one valuable competition point in B-grade rugby union at Risdon Oval on Saturday.
Condamine led 26-13 at half-time in the middle one of three Downs games.
Forward Patrick Black scored in the first half for Warwick off a pick and go and Zac Seerden landed a conversion and two penalties for Warwick.
In the second half, Warwick flanker Harry Marshall scored a late push-over try in the corner. Seerden converted to reduce the margin to 26-20.
Warwick secured a bonus point for going down by seven points or less. Warwick now must beat Goondiwindi in a fortnight at Goondiwindi to keep pushing its final-five hopes.
Marshall was the best for Warwick and was well supported by inside centre Jared Fearby, who normally plays as a flanker, and flyhalf Max Hall.
Coach Vlad Savovski said he had five of the starting 15 out on Saturday.
"We should have four back in a fortnight and am confident we can beat Goondiwindi,” he said.
The Warwick women play a carnival round at Gatton on Saturday.
