CLUB IN FOCUS
WATTLES Junior Rugby League Club fields nine teams in the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League competition.
The fixture season has five weeks to run before three weeks of finals.
Wattles will host the September 9 grand finals at Platz Oval.
The club has 200 players registered and fields teams in all grades.
For the first time, Wattles has a girls' leaguetag team this season under coach Tamara Hawks.
All Wattles teams train each Thursday at the Allora State School oval.
The U14 and U16s teams are the only two which have a second training session a week. They also train Tuesdays at Platz Oval under coaches John Meddleton (U14) and Shaun Henry (U16).
Club members Lane Eastwell and Hamish Gartery made regional teams this year.
Lane represented Darling Downs in the Queensland 12 years championships in Townsville during the school holidays and Hamish was part of the Darling Downs 11 years team which played in the Vic Jensen Carnival.
While registrations closed on June 30 for the current season, the Wattles Warriors club is keen to welcome more players next season for all grades.
Kaety Willett is in her first season as club president, Doug Peardon is vice-president, Leeanne Eastwell secretary, Debbie Meddleton treasurer and Chrissy Peardon registrar.
