Wattles have home game against Valleys on Sunday

RUGBY LEAGUE: Wattles Warriors A-grade coach Gary Lawrence is aiming for back-to-back wins in the Platz Oval clash with Valleys on Sunday.

“We are a good chance to beat Valleys, especially at home,” Lawrence said.

“Valleys beat Dalby at home and then Oakey at Oakey so it will be a tough game for us.

“Aaron Sillitoe is strong at fullback for Valleys and their forwards have been playing well.”

Wattles will be without Texas-based outside back Bennett Sutton who has a hamstring injury. Last weekend, Wattles beat Goondiwindi at Goondiwindi.

Centre Max Somes will return to the Wattles starting side after recovering from a shoulder injury but fullback Gilbert McAntee is still in doubt with a back injury.

The Wattles forward pack has been strengthened in recent weeks with the return of Tim Sharpe and Chris Warden, a starting prop in last year’s premiership win.

Captain Dale Perkins is now playing strongly after missing the representative games in Roma with injury.

Lawrence is waiting to see if regular prop Mitchell Duff is right to play after missing two weeks with a bad bout of the flu.

The first of three games at 11.30am Sunday.
