Wattles juniors elect Morris again

PAUL Morris has been elected for a seventh term as president of the Wattles Junior Rugby League Club.

The club annual general meeting at the Clifton Arms Hotel was well attended.

On his re-election, Morris described it as a proud moment for him.

"My goals for our club include our code of conduct to be adhered to and that our players continue to play the game of rugby league in the spirit it was intended," Morris said.

In his report, Morris noted that 2011 had seen the club continue to grow in the number of players signing on.

"I was proud of how the players from all grades have behaved both on and off the field throughout the year," he said.

"The club's reputation as fair and disciplined has led to the increased membership.

"I am also proud of the capital improvements made to our home ground, Platz Oval, with the installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system.

"This has delivered to the people of Clifton and districts the premier sports ground in the region.

"The Wattles clubhouse has also seen big improvements, with the current installation of a much bigger cold room that will benefit all who use it."

Vice-presidents are Ian Brady and Grant Lollback and treasurer is Debbie Meddleton.

Coaches for 2012 are: Under 8 John Meddleton, U10 Mick Ryan, U11 Ian Brady, U12 Peter Cavanagh, U13 Grant Lollback, U14 Roy Nott and U16 Shawn Henry.

Coaching director is Glen Brown, coaches for U7 and U9 are needed and the club is seeking a secretary.

The annual meet and greet will be held at the Leyburn Hotel on January 7 from 4pm.
