Wattles take on premiers

RUGBY LEAGUE: Allora/Clifton Wattles will take on Gatton this weekend in an early season TRL blockbuster.

Gatton won the premiership last season while Wattles are looking to improve on their semi-final appearance from last year.

Wattles coach Luke Duggan said it would be difficult for his side to make it three straight wins to open the season.

"It will be a very tough game," Duggan said.

"It will be a big test this weekend."

While the majority of last year's side has come back for 2014, Duggan said Wattles had been boosted by the emergence of young guns Dylan Ebneter, Conor Swinton and Brodie Ciesiolka.

"It's great for the side for those three to come in and do a job," he said.

"Brodie's been a massive addition to the side.

"But they're all quality players so I expected them to have an impact."

Wattles halfback Matt Duggan said his side needed to hold onto the ball.

"Everyone's still finding their feet so that's probably the main thing at this stage," Duggan said.
