Wattles Warriors centre pipped by one for leading scorer
RUGBY LEAGUE: At least eight of the Hutchinson Builders TRL Premiership top 10 try-scorers will be in action in the finals, giving spectators a chance to see some strike power in the big games.
Highfields flyer Aaron Hooper has finished as top try-scorer throughout the regular season after his last-round hat-trick against Warwick last Sunday.
It is the second-straight season Hooper has finished as regular season top try-scorer list. Hooper ran in 20 tries in 14 regular season games to edge out Wattles back Braydon Wilson, who crossed for 19 in 15 games.
These two top-notch finishers will go head-to-head on Saturday night when Highfields and Wattles clash in the first elimination semi-final at Clive Berghofer Stadium.
If one can run in two or three tries, that could go a long way to swaying the result in favour of their team.
Valleys will be a team to look out for when the Roosters are back in action in week two of the finals.
They have four players in the try-scoring top 10, giving Valleys coach Brett Seymour plenty of strike weapons to unleash.
Winger Aaron Sillitoe has been the most prolific try-scorer for the Roosters, sitting third on the list with 18 from 16 matches.
Dylan Chown, Emmanuel Cerei and Travis Turnbull are also in the top 10 and need to be watched closely by opposing defences.
Turnbull's 12 tries have come in just five games this season so he has been a real danger man after joining the squad from the Western Mustangs under-18s.
