We're craving some sushi
THE Japanese love their sushi, and over the past couple of decades the rest of the world has joined them on the bandwagon, but it seems Warwick is failing to keep up.
After a thorough scoping around town, the Daily News could not find one outlet that sold the Asian delight.
Rose City Shoppingworld Centre manager, Jason Gard said he would be keen to have a sushi chain open in Warwick.
"I definitely would want to sit down and have a talk with anyone who would be interested (in starting up a sushi bar), but we haven't been approached by any sushi operators," Mr Gard said.
Robins Kitchen Store manager, Jan Murphy said sushi kits were a very popular purchase with many customers opting to make their own due to the inability to buy it anywhere in town.
"Sushi kits are a really good gift and they sell well at Christmas and Easter time, and even just throughout the year," Mrs Murphy said.
"My son has a sushi kit and he and his partner make it all the time," she said.
Local sushi enthusiast Tiarna Kelly said she and her mother had considered making sushi rolls many times, but never quite got around to it.
Tiarna said she loved the taste of sushi and would visit a Japanese restaurant often if one were to open in Warwick.
After liaising with a number of Rose City shoppers, the general consensus was in favour of Warwick needing a sushi joint.
An easy, light, healthy meal - it's a wonder they had not thought of it earlier.
