Weekend Warrior eyes off cricket game for Colts
MAUGAN Benn is likely to play for Warwick Hotel Colts against Sovereign Animals in the 10am T20 game at Slade Park on Saturday.
Spots in the T20 semis are wide open with four games this Saturday to go. Only Maryvale Condamine with two wins from two games is assured of a semis spot.
The games on Saturday are a forerunner to the Warwick Davis Shield final against Toowoomba at Heritage Oval on Sunday.
Last Sunday, Benn was the Weekend Warrior after putting in a man of the match performance for Warwick Hotel Colts in a win against Railway Hotel Rascals at Slade Park.
He is a past winner
of the Warwick Cricket Association Player of the Year award and undoubtedly received some points for this season's award on Sunday.
Benn hit an unbeaten 74 with the bat in a Colts score of 7-228 and then took 3-9 off three overs in the Rascals total of 115.
Two of his victims were bowled and one caught.
Colts set the win up from the start, with openers Lachlan Gross, 33, and Shaun O'Leary, 27, both batting well and then first drop Jacob Gross hit 25.
In the middle and lower order, Colts lost four quick wickets before Benn found a willing partner in Darcy Bourke, who hit an unbeaten 12.
Jacob Gross took 2-14 off four overs for Colts.
Jack Bannister was best for Allora with 3-33 off six overs.
