Pilates, yoga the essence of the heart in Warwick
WARWICK welcomed a new home for pilates and yoga on Grafton St with the opening of Essence of my Heart yesterday.
The joint venture of fitness instructor Jess Kerle and clinical nutrition consultant Karen Maree will provide residents the perfect chance to kick start those New Year's Eve resolutions.
Ms Kerle spent five years as an instructor at Warwick's Voyage Gym and at WIRAC before deciding to open her own studio at 53 Grafton St.
"It's a great space here, the studio is huge and we have heaps of parking," she said.
"I didn't like being in a gym because it's all about comparing yourself to others and body image.
"This space is about loving who you are, cultivating patience and enjoying the process."
As a wellness advocate for doTERRA, Karen Maree has a range of natural, pure essential oils and other hand-made products for sale at the new location.
Mrs Maree suffered from rheumatoid arthritis before changes to her diet led to dramatic changes for her wellbeing.
"I started changing my diet and realised you are what you eat," she said.
"Now I love telling people what to eat, it's all related to your health."
Mrs Maree said the combination of the studio and her products made sense.
"I think the shop really complements the studio," she said.
"We met when we worked together at a retail store and when Jess said she was opening a studio herself I thought it was a great opportunity."
The first class of the new studio attracted plenty of interest.
"I had 22 people here at 6am for the first class," Ms Kerle said.
"The response has been fantastic; I would never get a class size that big in a gym."
Unlimited memberships start from $165 for one month of unlimited studio and community classes.
Community classes are held at Warwick West State School and Allora St Patrick's Catholic Primary School.
