West Bromwich Albion football coaches heading our way
FOOTBALL: The next two years could be the biggest in Warwick football history with a visit by West Bromwich Albion this year and a tour to England next year.
There will be a talent identification camp on June 26-28 when West Bromwich Albion Football Club coaches from England are in town.
For the first time, representatives of a premier league club will be in Warwick.
"West Bromwick Albion are one of the top 10 clubs in the premier league in England,” Warwick Wolves Academy director of coaching Tim Gaske said.
"The premier league club will send three of its academy coaches to Warwick for the camp. They are not just running a camp but are looking for talent.
"Players they identify will be invited to try out in England for a spot in the West Bromwich Albion Academy.”
There are already 25 players registered for the camp and only another 20 will be accepted. Some of the 25 are from the Warwick Wolves Academy but other players are welcome.
"We have players registered for the camp from as far as Kingaroy and Ballandean,” he said.
Gaske is organising to take a Warwick team to England in April, 2018, when the team will visit premier league clubs Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool for training and junior games.
"We also hope to visit the West Bromwich Albion Club Football Academy,” he said.
There are already 30 players interested in next year's trip to England and Gaske is keen to hear from more prospective players.
The Warwick Wolves Academy under-12 side will play the Thunder U12 side in a trial game on Sunday at 10am at Queens Park.
Registrations for the June camp can be through the link on the Warwick Wolves Academy Facebook page or by calling Gaske on 0434211441.
