Wet start to winter ahead

A SOAKING start to the cold season has been predicted with 80mm of rain expected to fall across the weekend.

With today being the first day of winter, Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Andrew Cameron told the Daily News just what was in store for the next three days.

"What's driving the weather now is an upper trough through the west pushing rain down from the north," Mr Cameron said.

Today's forecast for Warwick is afternoon showers followed by showers tomorrow morning progressing through to Sunday.

"We predict 20-30mm of rain for (tomorrow) and roughly 50mm or more for Sunday," Mr Cameron said.
