What Aussies talked about on Facebook in 2014

ROBIN Williams, Tony Abbott and Malaysia Airlines were the three most-talked about topics on Facebook in 2014, analysis of the social media platform shows.

The giant of the social media world on Wednesday released the results of its annual review, showing Australians were also talking about Game of Thrones, Ebola, the "ice bucket challenge" and South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Globally, results were similar but the World Cup topped the results for worldwide mentions, while the more serious Gaza conflict and Brazilian elections were in the top 10.

Sydney's Darling Harbour was the "most checked in to" location in Australia.
