What to pack for Splendour, according to the weather

PUNTERS, if you're Splendour-bound this weekend, you're going to want to bring something warm.

As the countdown has started, you'll be sorting your outfits and packing your bags.

The good news is the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a mostly sunny few days with a very low chance of rain.

But even know it's quite mild weather in Byron Bay, if you're coming up from the south I'd think twice about leaving behind those heavy winter coats.

Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach between 19C and 22C, but come nightfall it's going to be bloody freezing.

When the sun goes down you're going to want that big jacket because temperatures could fall between 3C and 11C.

Sunday will be the warmest day with sunny conditions and overnight temperatures between 6C and 13C, with daytime temperatures reaching the low to mid 20s.

The cold has been felt already across the region this week, with the coldest recorded temperature for July so far in Casino yesterday where it reached 1C.

Single digits are forecast over the region for the next few days.

Lismore residents could wake to another chilly morning with overnight temperatures expected to drop to 3C tomorrow.

Daytime temperatures are forecast at around 19C to 24C across the region over the next few days.

Minimum temperatures are expected to rise a little with overnight temperatures at 6C on Sunday and rising to 8C on Monday.

If you're planning on hitting the water this weekend, BoM forecasts there will be southwesterly winds across the coast caused by a high pressure system near the Bight is moving east slowly.

Westerly winds will increase today ahead of a front skimming across the southeast later tonight and early Thursday, with winds shifting southwesterly as the front moves through, according to BoM.

Another weaker front is expected tomorrow.
