What cafes and restaurants remain open in Toowoomba

DOZENS of Toowoomba businesses have closed after the government introduced new shutdown measures overnight due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

All Toowoomba pubs and bars, registered and licenses clubs and hotels (excluding accomodation) will close, as will all gyms and indoor sporting venues.

Both BCC Cinemas, the Grand Central Cinema and The Strand, will be closed, as will the Empire Theatre (which announced its closure last week).

A number of your favourite restaurants and cafes will remain open, but will only offer takeaway options, no dine in.

Bottle shops, including Dan Murphys and First Choice, will also remain open, as will supermarkets and shopping centres.

Religious gatherings and places of worship will also have to close.

Funerals will only be allowed to go ahead with very small groups where the one person per four square metre rule applies.

Schools will remain open across Toowoomba this week, though Toowoomba Grammar School will close from Wednesday, while Fairholme College and The Glennie School will close after Friday.

Retail pharmacies and medical centres will remain open.

All local libraries, pools and council-run sport facilities have also been closed by the Toowoomba Regional Council.

Beaty therapy, tanning, waxing and nail salons and tattoo parlous have also closed, as have arcades, play centres (both indoor and outdoor), all fitness centres (including yoga studios), galleries and museums.

Have you ordered takeaway from your favourite eatery during this crisis yet?
