Wheatvale batter in national cricket final
CRICKET: Wheatvale batter Carly Cooper has played in the Queensland Country team which was runners-up in the Australian Country Cricket Carnival in Geraldton, Western Australia.
In the final, South Australia made 6-107 and Queensland was 7-94 at the end of its 20 overs.
Opening the batting, Cooper made two in five balls in the final.
A day earlier, Queensland scored 8-136 to beat the 7-125 of a Victorian team which finished the carnival on top of the table.
Cooper was playing in her third successive Australian Country Cricket Carnival.
On Saturday, Scots PGC College student and Warwick junior Lucy Bourke played in the Queensland 10-12 years team which won the grand final against New South Wales. She was team vice captain and starred with 52 not out and 2-29 off seven overs in the grand final.
