Where to watch State of Origin game 1 in Warwick
Ahhh.....State of Origin. Mate against mate, state against state. The game that stops most of the eastern half of the country.
Of course there are people who couldn't really care less and might mow the lawn or something, but the majority of us will be plastered to a TV screen from 7.30pm tonight, screaming, shouting, crying, yee-haaing, groaning or jumping for joy.
Here are some viewing venue options for you:
1: The Horse and Jockey Hotel Motel
They'll be serving steak sandwiches in the bar. Hang out with the resident tradies and the younger crowd.
2: The Sandy Creek Hotel
Gary is putting on some nibblies and expects a few locals. Great pub in a great location. Not walking distance but they do have a courtesy bus.
3: The Condamine Sports Club
They've got TVs everywhere so you certainly won't miss the game. Good cold beverages. The best part is you'll be supporting your local sporting clubs.
4: The Warwick Memorial RSL Club
Watch the game in style on the big screen. It's always better on a big screen and they expect a bit of a crowd.
5. Stay at home
It's a bit chilly out and this will probably be a favoured option. In most cases you won't have to deal with someone going for the other team, and if you do then there are always other rooms to go to if the taunting gets too much. If you are prepared then you can do this properly, in your own style, with your favourite drinks and food options. No waiting for service, just get up and get it yourself, or cover the coffee table in choices...just watch it doesn't go flying. Also has the added bonus of watching the game in your jimmie-jams.
6. Go to a mates place
Don't drink and drive obviously, but getting a group together at (insert friends name here) place because he or she has an awesome setup with a projector, pool table, bean bag couches, cashews and a bar, is always an excellent option.
If you're the sort of person who likes to trash things when your team loses, and let's face it, Origin has the tendency to bring that out in some people, then a mates place is probably your best option. You can quietly leave after and apologise in the morning.
Or you could just harden up a little, take your team's loss like a man and walk away muttering something about next time.
Just remember, it's a school night so don't go too silly and may the best team win.
