Which little piggy will cross the line first?
WEE porkers will face the starter's horn on Saturday, March 23, with the return of the annual Sandy Creek Pig Races.
The eight little pigs dressed in their sequined and labelled sponsors' jackets will jump from the gate and take to the trotter from the get go to ensure their snout is in the milk first.
Pete Cuskelly, committee member and principal of Wheatvale State School, said the pigs would be primed to overcome many obstacles on the course including hay bales, see-saws, locked gates and tunnels.
"The course changes for each race so it is always a spectacle and the result is never guaranteed," he said.
"It's a hilarious event that suits the school's family focus and is a fabulous fundraiser for both the school and RACQ CareFlight."
Each race begins with a calcutta to "sell off" the winning rights to each pig before the jump.
Individuals and syndicates who get their hands on the winner receive a cash prize, plus donations by supporting local businesses.
The day consists of seven races, children's rides, an animal nursery, great food and entertainment.
Entry is $15 (or $10 pre-purchased from the school or pub). Schoolchildren are free.
Gates open at 1.30pm at the Sandy Creek Pub with the races from 2.30-8.30pm.
