Who knew the performance power loaded in full-strength beer?

ATHLETES talk about preparation being the key to success in any sport.

So after having a shocker in my 745th comeback to cricket on Sunday I went back over my preparation to see what went wrong.

Food

Dieticians suggest to carbo load before any big event this was my first mistake.

I mistook XXXX Gold for yellow Powerade - honest error that anyone could make.

I went the Warwick Cup Calcutta on Friday night and the Warwick Cup Saturday and drank low-carb mid-strength to keep me fresh for Sunday.

Should have known better if I just got stuck into the heavies and really loaded up the carbs I could have really upgraded my performance.

Sleep

It is suggested to get a least an extra hour of sleep.

I blame the wife for this if she just learnt to overcome her fear of snoring and not woken me up at least 20 times during the night I would have been sweet.

The sound of Darth Vader in a wind tunnel should be soothing; I don't know what's wrong with her.

Hydration

It's suggested that you must drink at least two litres of fluid before the event.

This is where I made a mistake - I mistook XXXX Gold for yellow Powerade - honest error that anyone could make.

Fitness

For those who know me I am more like Norm from the "Life be in it" ads than Usain Bolt.

I may have started my fitness campaign a little late for this year's season unless running to the bookmakers or lifting stubbies counts

Stretch before game

Sunday morning I woke up feeling like I had been run over by a B Double or I have swallowed a glass eel only to realize I had 10 minutes to get to the game.

If that wasn't the biggest stretch known to man to make it on time I don't know what is.

So I have now again gone into retirement until at least after the rodeo if I am not still sore in a month.
