Willgee can take a bow
ART and gardening are two fields that seem to sit at different ends of the spectrum but for Bill "Willgee" Greer they are both passions he is happy to donate his time to.
Yesterday Mr Greer celebrated the 12 years he spent as a volunteer at the Warwick Art Gallery with a morning tea and special presentation.
Gallery director Karina Devine said the event was about recognising Mr Greer's selfless work.
"Bill is going to be the first to be awarded with a lifetime membership to the art gallery," she said.
"He has been one of our most consistent volunteers, working every second Sunday, and this is to say thank you."
Mr Greer, who fought back tears, said his emotions showed just how much the award meant to him.
"I'm just so damned honoured that I was chosen for this privilege," Mr Greer said.
"I just love helping the community and can't help myself when it comes to volunteering.
"And any landscape architect has the basic art factor because they are designing and drawing too."
