Willis vs. Willis

THERE was some father-son rivalry at Morgan Park Raceway at the weekend as Greg Willis and son Tim went head to head in the Oz Truck Championship and iRace series.

The old boy proved to have just that bit more experience under his belt - or maybe just Lady Luck on his side - when they crossed the finish line.

"Tim was in a truck he'd never driven before and he led most of the way... until he blew a tyre," Greg said.

He said family members had bets on which of the Willis drivers would win, with Tim the odds-on favourite.

Despite leading most of the way, Tim came third after his dad, who came in second to driver Ryan Cochran.

The race was eight laps of the 3km track, averaging about 180-200kmh.

"It was really good racing," Greg said.

In six weeks, the boys head to Sydney to compete.
