Wilmot boosts Wattles Warriors
RUGBY LEAGUE: Stanthorpe inside back Jason Wilmot will return to the TRL competition after helping steer the Gremlins to BRL glory last season.
He has signed for premiers Wattles to play in the TRL after winning a premiership and player of the final with Gatton in 2013.
Brodie Ciesiolka ran in three tries on his way to earning the John McDonald Medal for man of the match but is not back with the Warriors after moving to Highfields.
His 2015 halves partner and two-time Price-Webcke Medal winner Matt Duggan is also scheduled for knee surgery early in the season.
The club has secured former Gatton premiership-winning half-back Wilmot, which will offset the loss of Ciesiolka and unavailability of Duggan.
"It looks like it will be third round," Wattles coach Gary Lawrence said of how long he expects to have Duggan available before surgery to fix a long-term knee complaint.
Former Valleys forward Tyrone Jowett has joined Wattles.
