Wilson ready to coach reggies after playing half a season
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Wattles club has filled all coaching positions for the 2019 season.
A 202-game NRL and Super League player Travis Burns will be A-grade coach for next season after guiding the team to the grand final this year.
He will be assisted by Glen McMillan and Dan Sullivan.
Wattles has a new coach at the helm of the reserve-grade team, Brenden Wilson.
After a career which includes TRL premiership wins with Wattles and Brothers and a Roma and District Rugby League premiership with Chinchilla Bulldogs, Wilson came out of retirement to play the second half of the reserve-grade season.
Wattles president Glyn Rees said Wilson was a shining light among Wattles high achieving reserve graders.
"He is looking forward to fostering the abundance of talent in the reggies ranks,” Rees said.
Shawn Henry will guide the Warriors under-18 side in the new season.
Rees said Henry's experience would be invaluable to the young players embarking on the initial stages of their senior league careers.
Training for all Wattles teams will start at Platz Oval, Clifton on February 5.
The first competition games will be against Warwick on March 23 at Father Ranger Oval. The Barrett Shield with Warwick will be on a date to be determined in the pre season.
Players, volunteers and sponsors wishing to be involved with Wattles for the coming season should contact president Glyn Rees on 0400811 093.
