Win for John and Jason at Thursday Island

BORDER Rugby League pair John Trindall and Jason Wilmot have combined in a Queensland Outback's 32-30 win against the combined Northern Islands side at Thursday Island.

Wilmot was perfect with the boot, slotting five goals from five attempts and setting up two tries.

The Stanthorpe captain said the weekend was an experience he'd never forget.

"The conditions were something like I've never played in... the wind was so strong," he said.

"The view from the field was spectacular, we were surrounded by water. If you kicked the ball too hard over the crossbar it would land in the water."

Wilmot was high in praise of the contribution of Killarney captain-coach John Trindall.

"John was really good for us off the bench. He really enjoyed the whole weekend and was good with the kids too with the coaching."
