Winter wonderland book fair has kids excited about reading

THE clever kids at Warwick’s Early Learning Centre are getting right in to reading.

Educator Stacey Cantwell has organised the centre’s annual book fair to encourage children to read and experience the fun of reading at an early age.

“The book fair runs all this week and each day we’re having a fun day with different activities,” she said.

“Today is Bring Your Favourite Book Day and tomorrow is Pyjama Day.

“We have a huge range of books here that have been supplied by the Scholastic Book Club and anyone can purchase them.

“We’ve been bringing the kids through to select a book and the teachers have been reading it to the class.

“And the whole week has a winter wonderland theme. If anyone wants to come along and check out the children’s books and have a look at the centre, they’re more than welcome.”

Mrs Cantwell said in this digital age, making reading and books a part of children’s lives was more important than ever.

“In this busy age of technology it’s so easy to hand a child a tablet or phone and get on with your life, but if you take just 10 minutes a day to read to your child, they’ll learn and grow, from the bonding and attention as well.”
