Winter workouts made easy
STAYING motivated and keeping up your fitness routine over winter can be difficult, especially when it is still dark outside and freezing cold.
It is tempting to press snooze on the alarm, crawl back under the covers and wait for the sun to come up.
But Voyage Fitness Warwick personal trainer Nick Kemp said it was important to continue exercising during the cooler months.
And in order to keep Warwick residents fit and healthy this winter Mr Kemp shared his top tips to staying motivated over winter.
Tip one: Group fitness
All you have to do is turn up. There is an instructor to help motivate you. There are a range of classes at different times of the day. It is also a lot warmer in the gym than it is outside.
Tip two: Small group/ individual personal training sessions
You have a trainer there every step of the way to help keep you motivated.
Tip three: Burn extra calories
You actually burn more calories trying to get warm than you do when you are already warm.
Tip four: Winter does not last forever
Winter is only for three months of the year. There are still the same amount of hours and minutes in the day and you can still make time for a workout. You just have to get up and once you are in the car then you just have to drive to the gym.
Tip five: Be summer ready
If you want to get your body ready for summer then you need to put in the hard yards.
Tip six: Avoid winter comfort food
Try to stick with your healthy eating plan. There are plenty of healthy choices that taste good too.
