Pool to close during holiday
WARWICK Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre's pools and sports courts will be closed for maintenance from March 31 to April 16, with the gym staying open.
WIRAC manager Don Warrener said the pools would be drained to allow an overhaul of the sand filtration system for the first time since it was installed in 1999.
"While they are empty, we'll replace the sand media and the laterals, a required maintenance that needs to be done every 10 to 15 years," Mr Warrener said.
"We'll also take the opportunity to do some regular maintenance in the pools, such as caulking the joints between the tiles, repainting non-slip areas and the inside of the rapid river pool."
He said the dry court area would also be closed for its bi-annual resurfacing.
"We'll be sanding the courts back and applying fresh lacquer, as well as marking new basketball keyways because the required shape has changed," Mr Warrener said.
There will be no holiday activity programs during the Easter school holidays and WIRAC will put a hold on direct debits from members while the pool and courts are unavailable.
Those with gym memberships will still be able to use the facilities.
