Warwick Wolves extend winning streak

THE Warwick Wolves extended their winning streak, defeating a determined Carlton United team 3-1 on Sunday at CF White Oval.

Warwick started well with Robbie Davey being brought down in the penalty box early in the match. Davey converted from the penalty spot before the lead was doubled shortly after when Tim Delaney found the net with a strike from outside the box.

Wolves then maintained their lead throughout the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

Despite having most of the attacking play, Wolves were caught by a Carlton counter-attack and they pulled a goal back soon after the break.

Wolves continued to attack a resolute Carlton defence to no avail until Cameron Davey scored the sealing goal, making an excellent run out of the backs.

Cameron and Dom Benz both had very good games in defence and Rob Davey, with Morgan Gilchrist and Joe Kairouz, were very strong in the midfield.

The Colts had a forfeit from Carlton and the women's team played well with nine players, losing to Carlton. Warwick meets Stanthorpe City at Warwick on Sunday and will look to hold on to second place on the ladder against City, who are three points behind in fourth position.
