Wolves fight hard in semis

FOOTBALL: Louise Rolfe led the way as Warwick battled hard before going down 4-0 to Willowburn in the Toowoomba ladies' major semi-final.

Rolfe played in the midfield and covered plenty of ground for a Warwick team that lost four players with injury.

Warwick played the last 10 minutes with 10 players. The score was 2-0 to Willowburn at half-time.

Coach Derek Kane said Warwick picked up the tempo in the second half and had six chances to score.

"Willowburn scored two goals in the first 20 minutes before we kept a clean slate in the final 25 minutes."

Jamilah Doro and Ashleigh Kane were strong defenders, ably assisted by Rebecca Washbourne and Caitlin Marstella. Warwick plays Rockville in the preliminary final.

Wolves down in men.

WARWICK was eliminated from Premier division after losing in extra time to Willowburn.

The score was 1-all at full-time after Warwick had a goal disallowed with four minutes to go. Mark Ferdinand scored both Warwick goals.

Coach Jon Pearson said it was a good all-around performance.

"We trailed at half-time and played some of our best footy of the season in the second half."
