Wolves in close battle for finals spot in Toowoomba football
FOOTBALL: Warwick Wolves scored a 5-2 win against third-placed Gatton in the Toowoomba senior premier men's footy in Warwick on Saturday night.
Thomas Jeffcoat and Jesse Harris each scored two goals and Jayden Webb one.
Coach Mick Willmot said he couldn't fault any of the boys.
"It was a good team performance. Joey Campbell made a comeback after being out for six weeks with a broken arm and played well at centre midfield.
Warwick was without Bailey McDonald, Sam McLennan and Tim Delaney and all should return for the game against Willowburn at Willowburn at 7pm on Saturday.
"They are pretty hungry to win this weekend,” Willmot said.
"If we win and Rockville draw or lose against West Wanderers, we are in the finals.
Bottom team West Wanderers have pushed Warwick, Gatton and leaders USQ in recent weeks so there is a chance they could beat or draw with Rockville.
In 16/17 years, Warwick beat Gatton 4-1. Ben Lyons was best player and scored two goals and the Gordon brothers, Joe and Pat,, one each.
