Wolves men go well in Toowoomba Football

FOOTBALL: The Warwick Wolves had two 3-1 wins in Toowoomba men’s football fixtures at the weekend.

The Wolves played St Alban’s on Saturday night and won the reserves match 3-1 with Sam McLennan, Josh Jordan and Morgan Gilchrist scoring the goals.

McLennan and Ben O’Dea both played strongly in reserves.

In the premier game, Warwick won on the back of goals to Matt Carey, Mark Ferdinand and Joey Campbell.

Rob Davey was outstanding in centre midfield and received great support from Carey and Shayne Watson.

“It was a good team effort by both premier and reserve teams, the reserves were much improved,” coach Jon Pearson said.

Warwick will play against Rockville in men’s football at Captain Cook Oval in Toowoomba on Sunday.

In the women’s competition, Warwick went down 4-2 in an away game to Withcott Pink Panthers after leading 2-1 at half-time.

Kendra Daniel and Koffy-Lee Cook scored the goals for a Warwick side which was unbeaten until Sunday.

Melissa Ramsay stood out in defence for Warwick while Shandell Doro returned well from injury.

The football weekend started with Warwick going down 4-1 to West Wanderers in colts in Toowoomba.

The colts host Willow City at 7pm Friday.
