Wolves win two from three at Stanthorpe
FOOTBALL: Warwick Wolves scored two wins in three games of Stanthorpe Football against United at International Oval on Saturday.
In the first game, Warwick won 6-0 in colts with Dylan Watts netting three goals.
Sam McLennan scored two and Kieren Power one.
Coach Jon Pearson rated Sam Maiore as his best playing on the left wing.
Warwick beat premiers 4-0 in men's football after the score was 1-0 against an under-strength United team at half-time.
"We had 10 regulars at the game and two colts, Josh Manwaring and Sam McLennan, who played in the men's win," Pearson said.
"It was hard to select a best player as they all went well. I am not reading much into the result as United will be a lot tougher later in the season."
In the ladies game, an under-strength Warwick side went down 2-1 to United.
While not coach of the ladies side, Pearson was impressed with the play of the whole Wolves team.
"They are well drilled and will win more than they lose this season," he said.
Warwick is away to Carlton on Sunday.
After the first round was washed out, the fourth round of junior fixtures was played on Saturday in perfect weather conditions on fields in top condition.
