Wolves women's team makes impact in Toowoomba football comp
THE Warwick Wolves women have been a revelation in this season's football competition in Toowoomba.
After moving from the Stanthorpe competition where they made the finals last season, the Wolves women have three wins in three games this season against West Wanderers, Chinchilla and Rockville.
Lisa-Marie Henry and Louise Rolfe scored goals and then Sharni Rielly netted a penalty.
Coach Derek Kane has been impressed with the team's defence early in the season.
"They are playing really well as a unit."
Ashleigh Kane is centre back and controls the defence along with Bec Washbourne, Jamilla Doro, Maddi Eyre and Melissa Ramsay.
Goalkeeper Shannon Doyle has been strong in goal and her football experience has been invaluable to the team.
The women were the only Warwick team to win on Sunday with Warwick drawing in men's reserves and conceding three late goals to go down 4-1 in premier men.
Warwick will play USQ this Sunday in three games at Queens Park starting with the women at 11am.
