Woman, 65, in Imbil drug raid

IMBIL police have charged several people, including a 65-year-old woman, following drug raids at Amamoor and Moy Pocket.

A 24-year-old man has also been fined $1099 and stripped of eight points for doing 160kmh in a 100kmh zone on the Old Bruce Hwy.

Police said domestic violence continued to be a significant problem across the country and Imbil police had attended three reported breaches of domestic violence orders in the last 30 days, resulting in the beginning of prosecutions.

Imbil and the Gympie CIB officers conducted a search warrant at Amamoor on May 11, which located 12 marijuana plants and more than half a kilo of dried marijuana.

A 29-year-old man will face Gympie Magistrates Court on May 30, charged with producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property used in the commission of a crime and possessing utensils.

A 56-year-old man at the same address will face a charge of permitting the use of a place in connection with a crime.

A search warrant at Moy Pocket on May 11, located more than 20 grams of marijuana, drug utensils and cannabis seeds.

A 65-year-old woman will face Gympie Magistrates Court on May 30.

The 24-year-old male driver was busted speeding at Coles Creek on April 15.

"High speeds such as this are frequently linked to fatal traffic collisions and drivers at these speeds are endangering not only their own lives but the lives of other road users," a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said.

"The Old Bruce Hwy is a location where regular enforcement activity is conducted by police from Imbil Station and the Gympie Traffic Branch."

Imbil police have also recently investigated scam phone calls.
