Woman becomes abusive in hotel
A JUNABEE woman has appeared in court after she became so intoxicated she fell over in a hotel and then unleashed a tirade of abuse on police.
Melody Ann Marsh attended an Emerald Hotel on July 5 while she was waiting for her train to arrive at the neighbouring station.
The Warwick Magistrates Court last week heard Marsh was refused service as she was unsteady on her feet and slurring her words.
At one point she fell over inside the premises, knocking over bar stools in the process.
Police were called to attend when the 42-year-old became aggressive and refused to leave.
On their arrival, police were met with a wave of abuse from Marsh, who swore at them and struggled as they tried to place her in a police car.
Her son witnessed the entire episode.
At the police station, Marsh's defiance continued when she refused to exit the vehicle and had to be forcibly removed.
Defence counsel for the woman told the court his client was "somewhat confused" about what took place that afternoon due to her drunkenness.
He said the incident had affected her life and she was being punished in other ways.
Magistrate Graham Lee said it was clear to him that the situation spiralled out of hand and Marsh "panicked" when police arrived. He added this did not excuse her behaviour.
Marsh was placed on a $600 good behaviour bond for 12 months and no conviction was recorded.
