Woman charged with drink driving following motorcycle crash

A WOMAN has been charged with drink driving following a serious motorcycle crash at Kuttabul last night.

A Mackay Police spokesman confirmed a woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after the crash, which occurred on the Bruce Hwy about 6pm yesterday.

It is believed a motorbike and two cars were involved.

The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old man, was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious condition. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said he was unconscious but breathing at the scene.

He was flown to Townsville Hospital this morning in a serious condition.

A woman who was in the third car was also taken to Mackay Base Hospital with minor injuries last night.

The other driver, the woman who was charged, was not injured.

This was the second motorcycle crash within 24 hours in the area. A 49-year-old Kuttabul woman lost part of her leg after the motorcycle she was riding and another vehicle collided on the Bruce Hwy at The Leap at 10pm on Thursday.

The Mackay Base Hospital spokeswoman said the woman was in a serious but stable condition.

A 63-year-old Mt Ossa woman, who was driving the other vehicle in Thursday's crash, will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court next month after being charged with one count each of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and driving under the influence of alcohol.
