Woman freed after bad highway crash

A WOMAN was trapped in a car yesterday afternoon after the vehicle she was in struck a traffic sign and came off the road along the Cunningham Hwy at Maryvale.

Initial investigations indicated the car left the road near the intersection with Maryvale Back Rd and drove through a fence and into a paddock before stopping about 200 metres away, near Millarvale Creek.

QFES workers removed the roof of the vehicle to allow paramedics to treat the 46-year-old passenger for suspected serious injuries before she was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Brisbane.

The 45-year-old female driver was unhurt.

The women were believed to be travelling from Goondiwindi when the crash occurred.

Investigations into the accident are continuing.
