Woman, 21, raped after night out

A 21-YEAR-OLD Ipswich woman has told police she was raped in a Brisbane park after falling asleep following a party at a nightclub.

The woman told police she was certain her drinks were spiked.

CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Dixon said the woman from Booval went by herself to a nightclub in the Valley on Sunday night for a 21st birthday party.

"She left in a cab and was dropped off in Milton and she fell asleep in a park," Snr Sgt Dixon said.

"Her mother rang her and she didn't know where she was, she was very confused. She said her clothing was dishevelled and her underwear had been pulled to one side. She's indicated to the investigators that her drinks were spiked, that's why she was so confused."

The woman tried to call 000 but they weren't able to help because she didn't know where she was.

"She said she left the nightclub about 1.10am and she tried to ring 000 at 3.30am," Snr Sgt Dixon said.

"Her mother called her back and she went to a street sign and gave that name to her mother.

"The girl's boyfriend and his father drove to Milton and brought her back to Ipswich where she went to the police station."

The Ipswich CIB is liaising with Brisbane CIB to get CCTV footage that might identify the rapist.
