Woman struck while helping animal

A 55-YEAR-OLD Toowoomba woman is in a critical condition after she was struck by a car while trying to help an injured animal last night.

Police investigations suggest the woman had gone to the aid of an animal which had been hit by a car in Stenner Street, Toowoomba, about 6.40pm yesterday.

It is believed a west-bound motorist did not see her on the road and hit her.

The woman was taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital.
