Woman travels across oceans to reunite with Texas farmer
Dave Johnson and his partner Sufin Anan count themselves blessed compared to other attendees at the Pig and Calf sale.
Unlike others hoping to sell stock to make ends meet, Dave said he’s had some rain on the cattle farm he runs with his brother.
“We’ve come down from my farm in Texas and are hoping to buy some little ducks for the dam,” he said.
“It actually rained about five weeks ago and it was enough to keep the dams full, believe it or not. We’re lucky and everyone else missed out.”
Sufin, visiting from Thailand, says she’s fallen in love with the area and loves to take pictures of the sales.
“I like it here, it’s very different to my home in Bullion,” she said.
The couple met when Dave was on one of his frequent visits to Thailand.
“She loves the farm and we've got a vegetable patch,” he said.
“She loves to go out and water the veggies and talk to them.”
Dave and Sufin fly back when they can, but Sufin is hoping to make a permanent move.
“Yeah, this is a love story, we want to grow old together,” Dave said.
