Body may have been beside road five days before being found
THE body of a woman, now identified as Rachel Johnston, 39, may have been beside Ballina Rd for up to five days before being discovered.
Ms Johnston's death at Goonellabah last month, while still being investigated, seems to have been not suspicious, it has also been said.
Police from Richmond Local Area Command found the body of a woman in bushland off Ballina Road, Goonellabah, on Monday November 9, and an investigation was initiated.
The woman has been formally identified as being Ms Johnston, who was originally from Port Macquarie and more recently had been staying in the Northern Rivers area.
While investigators are still awaiting the final results of the post mortem examination, interim results indicate her death is not suspicious.
Police have been speaking with friends and relatives of the woman as part of their investigation.
They are appealing for anyone who may have seen a woman on the side of Ballina Rd, near the intersection of Kadina St, in the early hours of Wednesday, November 4 (The last time Ms Johnston was sighted), to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
