Woodcrafters’ new toy a sight for saw eyes

A NEW delivery has the Warwick Woodcrafters buzzing to get in and put their hands to work.

Weighing in at several hundred kilograms, the woodcrafters' new panel saw was delivered on a tow truck and placed with a forklift on Friday.

The saw, worth $20,000 brand new, was donated by Greg Eastwell from Ranbuild.

Warwick Woodcrafters president John Madsen said the panel saw would allow the woodcrafters to cut everything to size.

"It means we can cut up big sheets of melamine," he said. With two blades, the panel saw has a number of special features, and won't chip any wood it cuts.

While the woodcrafters are keen to get started on the machine, they'll have a lot of learning to do before they put it to use.

There are few people in the group who have ever worked with a machine like the panel saw.
