Woodenbong puts on a super Sunday show

THE 2016 Woodenbong 25th Annual Show was held on Sunday, officially opened by Principal of Woodenbong Central School Dr. Greg Wilson with guests Thomas George MP along with Show President Margaret Martin and John Norris, Shirley Hardcastle and in attendance Mayor Danielle Mulholland of Kyogle Shire.

Dr. Greg Wilson spoke of the "recognition of the role Woodenbong Central School plays within the community and in association with the Woodenbong Show who both hold strong agricultural traditions and we both share a strong sense of community".

The Show provided outstanding exhibits, events, show jumping, dog show, damper cooking competition won by Tien Smith, children's activities, stalls, and food was available and much socialising took place, with all attracting a huge crowd who appreciated all the hard work done by the Show Committee.

Woodenbong Miss Showgirl is Amy Kearney, Miss Teen Showgirl is Penny Lee and Miss Junior Showgirl was Annaleise Barrett. 

The judging proved difficult as all the entrants displayed well above average performance and congratulations to all.

In the Pavilion the "Most Outstanding Juvenile Exhibit" & "Best Exhibit in Section" Rose Wilson and "Most Outstanding Open Exhibit in Pavilion", "Best Exhibit in Section", "1st in Art" Margaret Berg. 

"Most Successful Exhibitor" Katelyn Fletcher 212 points.

"Most Outstanding Exhibitor" Barbara Mackney 70 points.

The Photography Section was well supported with 464 entries with "Best in Section" Renee Mulcahy and "People's Choice" Larissa Scarlett.

Many equestrian events and show jumping enthralled the crowds. 

The equestrian "Supreme Champion Hack" was "Touch of Class" with Tara Kelly.

Winner of the "Hugh Fleming Memorial Trophy" for Show Jumping was Georgia Everson on "Timely".

"Supreme Champion Beef Exhibit" P. A. & E. J. Wieland with a Shorthorn cow "Flossy" and calf, from Mt Alford Stud.

"Grand Parade winners": P. A. & E. J Wieland for Cattle.

"Best Presented Horse in Parade" Susan Olive.

Horse Sports and Novelty Events were held including bending and barrel appealing to the younger Pony Club contestants.

The "Young Farmers Challenge" was won by Amy Kearney, Glen McKey, Shaun McKey, and Braidon Farrer.

The Championship Dog Show showcased 310 entrants with 'Best in Show': M & G Armstrong with Australian Kelpie "Australian Supreme Champion Dewregal K. T."

Runner Up: M. Schelbach with Siberian Husky "Champion Bluemooska Whos Ya Daddy".

Margaret Martin the President of the Woodenbong Show Committee wished to thank all of her Fellow Committee Members and the very willing band of volunteers who contributed to the overall success of the Show.
